What is Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc.?

Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. is the nation’s premier Pre-Health Professional Co-Ed Fraternity. The Active and Alumni Membership strives toward “helping people, together” by upholding the Creed and Mission Statement of the Fraternity. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, our Chapters and affiliates contribute philanthropically and through community service, dedicating our lives to the service of others. This Fraternity upholds the standards of academic excellence, professionalism, and integrity in all endeavors.

What does “pre-health” mean?

“Pre-health” is a term used to refer to all tracks of undergraduate education that prepare students for one of the many pre-health based professions. These professions include medicine, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, dentistry, veterinary medicine, psychology, physician assistant, physical therapy, research, and all other fields with focus in health.

What is the difference between “pre-health” and “pre-med”?

“Pre-med” is a term used to refer specifically to the track of undergraduate education that prepares students for a profession in medicine, either as an MD or DO. Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. is inclusive of all health fields and uses the term “pre-health” for this reason.

What is the difference between Professional and Social Greek Organizations?

Professional Greek Organizations (PGOs) have primary focus in uniting students of similar professional endeavors, no matter the undergraduate track they are on at the time of affiliation. Social Greek Organizations, more commonly called Greek Lettered Organizations (GLOs) in general, have primary focus in uniting students of similar backgrounds, no matter their professional calling. Professional and Social organizations have many areas of overlap and both provide different networks for their affiliates.

Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. is involved with philanthropic projects and organizations, health systems, and health education, all located at the Chapter, local, and national level. The Fraternity at-large strives to make an impact through professional networks and inter-professional work across all fields.

With what or whom is Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. affiliated?

Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. is a Fraternal Member of the Professional Fraternity Association (PFA), the nation’s renowned association for Professional Greek Organizations of all foci and missions.

Does Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. haze or have hazing practices?

Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. has a strict anti-hazing policy and does not condone any acts of hazing committed by affiliates or other involved entities. All Chapters and Members of Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. are expected to abide by all hazing laws and regulations enacted by their respective collegiate institutions, Cities, States, and Federal government.

Who can join Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc.?

All undergraduate students currently registered and attending a collegiate institution with a pre-existing Chapter are allowed to join Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. if in good standing. All undergraduate students currently registered and attending a collegiate institution without a pre-existing Chapter are allowed to pursue Expansion of Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. to their collegiate institution. Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. and its affiliates do not discriminate on the basis of age, ethnicity, nationality, sexual identity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, ideology, socioeconomic status, documentation status, or other demographic.

How does one join Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc.?

All undergraduate students must either attend Formal Recruitment. Formal Recruitment is conducted at the discretion of the respective Chapters, under standards and guidance of the National Director of Recruitment. Affiliation through either avenue is only granted upon completion of Prospective Member Process and successful initiation into the Fraternity.

Will I be interviewed in order to join Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc.?

Yes, Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. upholds a standard of Interview after approval of application for consideration of affiliation. As is the case with entering all forms of professional school, the professional interview is an integral part in professional development and education.

What are the benefits of joining Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc.?

Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc. provides networking opportunities and specific membership benefits to all affiliates. The Alumni Membership is composed of an ever-growing number of health professionals who make a personal effort toward professional development of the students they mentor. Yes!  Our organization welcomes non-traditional students and has a support network to help students who are unsure if a professional fraternity is right for them. Recruitment week allows you to talk to current members about our experiences and meet with other organizations that we collaborate with as well.
